For over 50 years, the Nanaimo Track and Field Club has been welcoming athletes of all levels from ages 5 to 95. Today, as one of the biggest clubs in the province, we continue to introduce the fundamentals of track + field to beginners and celebrate the excellence of our top athletes at the local, provincial and national levels.
NTFC is committed to supporting healthy active lifestyles in our community while providing opportunities to pursue athletic excellence for members of all ages.
Some participate just for fun. Others want to challenge themselves to realize their athletic ambitions. Our Masters continue to defy convention by active participation and impressive wins well into their 80’s.
We are committed to preserving the tradition of track + field in Nanaimo while looking ahead to secure a bright future for athletics in our community and on Vancouver Island.
The NFTC was founded shortly after World War II, as a partnership with the local school district. Elwood Wylie, a Nanaimo Sport Hall of Fame inductee and later, Art Van Idour developed the Rotary Bowl Athletic Facility, as one of the finest track and field venues in the province, supporting 15000 local youth and educators and as a multi-use venue for community needs.
Today, NTFC is proud to be partnered with the City of Nanaimo. The City shares our vision of a vibrant track + field community with a top notch facility for athletes, while providing a safe and well-maintained venue for the school district and public to enjoy.
